احتفى المتحف الوطني السعودي بيوم المتاحف العالمي 2026، عبر برنامج ثقافي امتد ثلاثة أيام، تحت شعار المجلس الدولي للمتاحف لهذا العام: “المتاحف توحد عالما منقسما”، في تأكيد لدور المتاحف بوصفها جسورا للحوار والمعرفة، ومساحات تعزز الوعي بالتراث والهوية والانتماء.
وتضمن البرنامج، الذي أتاح المتحف حضوره مجانا، جلسات حوارية وورش عمل وتجارب تفاعلية وعروضا أدائية تقليدية، بمشاركة عدد من المفكرين والأكاديميين والفنانين والمتخصصين، لمناقشة موضوعات تتصل بالعمق الثقافي، واللغة، والهوية، والتراث العمراني، والفنون الأدائية، وأثر التقنية والذكاء الاصطناعي في فهم الثقافة ومشاركتها.
كما قدم المتحف تجربة “صمم رحلتك” المدعومة بالذكاء الاصطناعي، بما يتيح للزوار تخصيص تجربتهم داخل المتحف، واستكشاف مقتنياته التي تضم أكثر من 3 آلاف قطعة أثرية وتراثية.
وأكدت مديرة عام المتحف الوطني السعودي رولا الغرير، في تصريح لـ”عكاظ”، أن المتاحف في المملكة أصبحت “منصات ثقافية ومعرفية تسهم في بناء الوعي وتعزيز العلاقة بالهوية الوطنية لدى الأجيال الجديدة”، مشيرة إلى أن المملكة تشهد تحولا نوعيا في مفهوم المتحف بوصفه “مساحة حية تتيح للزائر التفاعل مع التاريخ والثقافة والسرديات الوطنية بأساليب معاصرة تجمع بين المحتوى، والتقنيات الحديثة، والتجارب التفاعلية”.
وأضافت الغرير، أن الأجيال الجديدة تتفاعل مع المساحات الثقافية بطريقة مختلفة، إذ تبحث عن المشاركة وطرح الأسئلة واستكشاف المعنى، مبينة أن المتحف الوطني يعمل على تقديم تجارب وبرامج تتيح للشباب والطلاب أن يكونوا جزءا من التجربة الثقافية. وكشفت أن المتحف استقبل خلال العام الماضي أكثر من 17 ألف طالب ضمن الزيارات المدرسية، بما يعكس دوره المتنامي في ربط الأجيال الجديدة بتاريخ المملكة وثقافتها.
وشددت الغرير، على أن المتحف الوطني يؤدي دورا مهم في تحويل الثقافة إلى تجربة وعي وانتماء، من خلال المعارض والبرامج الثقافية والتعليمية وورش العمل والأنشطة التفاعلية، التي تجعل الثقافة جزءا من الحياة اليومية للمجتمع، وتمنح الزائر فرصة لاكتشاف قصص المملكة وتحولاتها وإرثها الحضاري بأسلوب يلامس مختلف الفئات والأعمار.
ويأتي احتفاء المتحف الوطني بيوم المتاحف العالمي، امتدادا لدوره في حفظ تاريخ المملكة وتراثها، وتقديمه للزوار من خلال قاعاته الدائمة ومعارضه المؤقتة، وبرامجه العامة ومبادراته التعليمية.
The Saudi National Museum celebrated International Museum Day 2026 with a cultural program that spanned three days, under this year’s theme from the International Council of Museums: “Museums Unite a Divided World,” affirming the role of museums as bridges for dialogue and knowledge, and spaces that enhance awareness of heritage, identity, and belonging.
The program, which allowed free admission to the museum, included discussion sessions, workshops, interactive experiences, and traditional performance presentations, featuring a number of thinkers, academics, artists, and specialists to discuss topics related to cultural depth, language, identity, architectural heritage, performing arts, and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on understanding and sharing culture.
The museum also offered an AI-supported “Design Your Journey” experience, allowing visitors to customize their experience within the museum and explore its collection, which includes over 3,000 archaeological and heritage pieces.
The Director General of the Saudi National Museum, Rola Al-Ghurair, stated in a statement to “Okaz” that museums in the Kingdom have become “cultural and knowledge platforms that contribute to building awareness and enhancing the relationship with national identity among new generations,” pointing out that the Kingdom is witnessing a qualitative shift in the concept of the museum as a “living space that allows visitors to interact with history, culture, and national narratives in contemporary ways that combine content, modern technologies, and interactive experiences.”
Al-Ghurair added that new generations interact with cultural spaces differently, as they seek participation, ask questions, and explore meaning, indicating that the National Museum is working to provide experiences and programs that allow youth and students to be part of the cultural experience. She revealed that the museum welcomed more than 17,000 students during the past year as part of school visits, reflecting its growing role in connecting new generations with the history and culture of the Kingdom.
Al-Ghurair emphasized that the National Museum plays an important role in transforming culture into an experience of awareness and belonging, through exhibitions, cultural and educational programs, workshops, and interactive activities that make culture a part of the daily life of the community, providing visitors with the opportunity to discover the stories of the Kingdom, its transformations, and its civilizational heritage in a way that resonates with various groups and ages.
The celebration of International Museum Day by the National Museum extends its role in preserving the history and heritage of the Kingdom and presenting it to visitors through its permanent halls, temporary exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives.
